Insight Global MRI Technologist in Portsmouth, Virginia

Job Description

Insight Global is in search of a MRI Technician in the Portsmouth, VA area to support a government client on a long term contract. The ideal candidate would be responsible performing exams on all MRI scanners, assisting with protocol management for patient exams, verifying patient and procedure information, evaluating patients for contrast compatibility, reviewing MRI safety screening, documenting implant information, and ensuring patient comfort. Additionally, HCWs log patient arrivals and departures, send image series to radiologists for reading, and follow department protocols. They will select the appropriate coil and equipment for specific body parts, ensure proper patient positioning to prevent thermal burns, and start IVs for contrast administration. HCWs also provide anesthesia support, engage in clinical discussions with radiologists and attending medical staff, and review all images to ensure accurate transmission for radiologist reading. Additionally, they perform system calibrations, recognize equipment errors, and maintain the MRI suite, including stocking supplies and cleaning.

Skills and Requirements

  • ARRT registration

     - MRI certification

     - Hands on work experience as an MRI for 18 consecutive months within the last 24 months

       Must have worked with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)

     - Experience working MRI Equipment at a 1.5T or 3.0T field strength

Have completed 12 hours of continuing medical education approved by ARRT within the last 12 months null
