JOB SUMMARY:

Performs all duties necessary to receive, process, decontaminate, sterilize and distribute supplies and equipment in an efficient and safe manner, for optimum patient care and according to Departmental/Infection Control Policies

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school graduate or equivalent; general knowledge of high school subject matter possibly including sciences, simple medical procedures or terminology.

Experience: Previous Central Sterile Processing work experience preferred.

License: Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from

The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)

-or-

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)

International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM)

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FACTORS

Physical: Requires prolonged standing, walking or other constant physical movements on a routine basis; may also require remaining in same position over long periods of time; or eye, ear strain and frequent lifting of moderately heavy items.

Mental: Must be able to listen to instruction, translate it into activity and reproduce what is taught accurately. Must be extremely conscientious and willing to follow set rules that may be detailed and/or repetitive. Must refrain from "short cuts" where technique and strict routines are essential.
