General Atomics and Affiliated Companies Business Systems Manager in Poway, California

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Systems Manager to join our ITS team located in San Diego (Poway), CA.

GA is seeking a proven IT leader to head up the Planning and Logistics Value Stream within the overall Application Solutions tower. Deep hands-on experience in ERP systems (preferably SAP) configuration and business support in MRP (material requirements planning), demand management, long-term planning, S&OP (sales and operations planning), forecasting, sales/distribution, inventory & warehouse management, and property management areas are essential. Hands-on experience in Sales/Distribution, Service Management, and Plant Maintenance modules of SAP (or equivalent ERP system) is preferred. Experience working in the Aerospace & Defense Industry is preferred. Experience in software vendor management and Cloud/SaaS applications also preferred. Experience working with rapid application development platforms (preferably Mendix or similar RAD/Low-Code/No-Code development platforms) as functional analyst is preferred. Deep understanding, working knowledge, and hands-on experience in agile project management and software development methodology is strongly desired. Hands-on experience in Microsoft Dynamics CRM or CE system is also desired. This position is responsible for partnering with various business unit leaders in planning, logistics, and property management functions to build and support a responsive applications portfolio. The leader will be expected to develop and execute on roadmaps aligned to the operational objectives for the enterprise, as well as enhance the Planning and Logistics value stream process efficiency. This position is expected to understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.

This requires hands on solution/functional architecture, design and delivery of scalable applications (both Custom and COTS), and ongoing management of the planning, logistics, and property management applications and software deployed across the enterprise. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Programs, Planning, Sustainment, Logistics, Property Management, and Flight Operations value streams, this position is responsible for but not limited to the following:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and interprets policies, objectives, budgets, plans, procedures and schedules for the group. Develops, implements and monitors uniform programs. Develops objectives for the group and ensures achievement of objectives.

  • Manages the administration and development of applications and technical solutions to support the business.

  • Lead various discovery and exploratory discussions between business stakeholders and wider technical teams to understand and document high level requirements, then refine the scope, develop summary level process flow as well as architecture diagrams, and develop appropriate execution plans based on size, resource availability, and technical feasibility.

  • Analyzes and plans for future technology needs while ensuring future requirements of computing and software are met.

  • Develops innovative solutions to unusually complex and diverse management and technical issues.

  • Directs the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required professional and technical talent.

  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related technical field and six or more years progressively complex experience in programming and computer systems analysis and three or more years supervisory experience. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.

  • Complex experience in business systems analysis, software implementation, production support, and two or more years of supervisory experience prefer.

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on configuration and related functional experience on SAP MM/PP/SD/LE modules (or equivalent ERP system) with specific focus on MRP, demand management, forecasting, long-term planning, sales and operations planning, shipping, inventory management, warehouse management, asset management (equipment records) through at least 2 full cycle implementations (SAP or similar ERP) and production support.

  • Candidates with relevant experience in SAP SD/LE, SM, and PM modules and/or aviation industry specific ERP/MRO systems such as Ultramain or Ramco will be considered.

  • Minimum 2 years of management experience with multiple direct reports, responsible for employee performance management, task assignments, and career development support.

  • Multiple project management experience in both waterfall and agile environment including budget, resource, scope, and vendor/partner management.

  • Knowledge of basic infrastructure and cybersecurity principles with the ability to articulate technical requirements associated to application implementation projects.

  • Must have detailed and extensive knowledge in the application of information technology principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as comprehensive project leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines.

  • Must be able to resolve highly complex and diverse management and technical problems that are not limited to SAP.

  • Must be able to serve as spokesperson on information technology projects.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with others.

  • Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.

  • Must be able to travel as required.
