Salary Range:$23.00 To $28.00 Hourly

Hiring for 1st Shift - 6am to 2:30pm, M-F

JOB PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for producing machined parts throughthe safe and efficient operation of a CNC machine allowing for the achievement of customer expectations for quality and on-time delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Setup all 3, 5 axis and vertical machines to successfully conduct run as program specified.
  • Input tools register, offset, compensation, including zero and reference points and additional switches, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry and trigonometry, proving part programs.
  • Verify settings by measuring position, 1st article run, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches/shop drawings,material specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, location of surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges according to process documentation.
  • Monitor the run throughout the cycle, on one or more machines, checking specifications are met.
  • Make necessary machine offset as required and monitor feed, speed and tapping cycle.
  • Operate one or more machines per operation sheet.
  • Perform assigned operator equipment maintenance.
  • Diagnose and correct equipment or tool issues.
  • Perform basic de-burr or rework of work in-process.
  • Make recommendations to optimize and improve assigned processes.
  • Maintain workstation to 5S standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned by lead or Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operating CNC machine.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Computer skills required and familiarity with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software and machinery used for computer-aided manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of how to operate grinders, lathes and milling machines.
  • Ability to read all views blueprint and Datum call outs, process documentation and inspection measuring devices. Math skills to take precise measurements and make calculations.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify/correct production issues.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
  • Able to work with shop standard tools and efficiently set and validate tooling.
  • Able to write a simple program (Vise Jaws, tap holes, pin stopped hole).
  • Consistently achieve defined productivity level on all products processed.
  • Able to do a vacuum, 4th axis Trunnion and 5th axis machine setup.
  • Able to program and build own fixture to setup complex parts and maintain tight true position.
  • Significant hands-on experience working on a production floor.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment and be sensitive to issues of diversity and inclusion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employees is regularly required to stand; use hands, and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hand and arms; and talk to hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift and climb balancing.
  • Frequent walking, bending, lifting and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and move roughly 50-70 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or protective gear on a daily basis. Occasionally exposed to risk OD electrical shock. Exposed to moving mechanical parts, humid condition, fumes or airborne particles, flying metal burrs and chips and possible chemical irritants such as water-based coolants, hydraulic oils, degreasing soap and mineral spirit. Occasionally exposed to uncomfortable cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Exposed to hazardous equipment on a weekly basis.
