General Atomics and Affiliated Companies Sustainment Business Operations Manager in Poway, California

The Sustainment Business Operations Manager reports directly to the Vice President of Sustainment and is responsible for the planning, managing and performance of projects across the Sustainment organization. Responsible for new business activity and projects which enhance alignment across Sustainment functional departments and with external stakeholders. Lead improvements projects within a specific department, between organizations, or across the enterprise. Align automated and non-automated business processes to support business strategy and targeted objectives. Leads all phases of projects from initiation through implementation. Applies established technologies, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to provide solutions to a variety of issues. Typically accomplishes objectives through team members and cross-functional stakeholders. Responsible for decisions that could have an extended impact on the organization. Supports special projects for Vice President as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure overall Business Area compliance with various Business Management processes.

  • Collaborate across management and project team to expand services and potential business opportunities.

  • Perform role of delegate for department administrative responsibilities in the absence of the VP.

  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination between Sustainment lines of business

  • Perform special assignments as directed by VP.

  • Coordinate departmental and/or cross-functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks focused on upgrading existing products and/or services.

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations to senior leadership.

  • Influence and coordinate business shaping opportunities.

  • Oversee all proposal support for Sustainment organization.

  • Support implementation and management of Integrated Business Planning Process.

  • Manage Business Operations Indirect Budget.

  • Serve as liaison to OpEx department to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives.

  • Oversee project charters to ensure project goals are attained.

  • Assign and monitor work of Business Operations staff, providing support and direction as required.

  • Interpret and administer policies, processes and procedures that impact projects.

  • Oversee business analytics, business processes, and strategic planning representation.

  • Utilize Six-Sigma methodologies.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering, science or a related technical field as well as thirteen or more years of progressively complex program administration experience with at least seven of those years managing programs. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

  • Demonstrates extensive technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts, and practice as well as comprehensive program management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.

  • Must be able to develop solutions to complex problems that require coordination of technologies across program requirements.

  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.

  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment and travel as required.
