Job Summary :
Completes psychosocial assessments utilizing the data toward formulating a diagnostic impression of the patient's and family's social and emotional functioning, and assists in developing and implementing a Treatment and Discharge Plan. Maintains knowledge of and adheres to federal and state regulatory guidelines and timelines in performing duties. Interviews and interacts with patients and when indicated, their advocates, to obtain mental status and psychiatric and social histories relevant to their current emotional/behavioral problem(s).
Uses current evidence-based knowledge and skills to assess psychiatric emergencies and to provide sound, professional care and crisis intervention services to patients.
Collaborates with outside facilities referring patients to CHMC to collect documentation, review and present to on call provider if beds are available.
Education :
Position requires a Master's Degree in Social Work or a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling
Registration/Certification/Licensure :
Position requires licensure in the state of Maryland - LMSW, LCSW-C, LCSW, LGPC, LCPC.
Experience :
Position requires a minimum of 6 months postgraduate clinical experience.
Other Requirements :
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
Psychological demands are heavy requiring emotional maturity and insight, sensitivity, empathy and full understanding of issues related to: social/interpersonal conflict, abuse/trauma and grief/bereavement for all patient populations.
Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements.
Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with customers and in promoting a positive service atmosphere.
Ability to work independently, prioritize concurrent projects, meet deadlines, follow through with deliverables, and produce quality work.
Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.
