Summary:

  • Under supervision from the Director of Social Work/Case Management and other clinical directors, assists in providing comprehensive oversight of the program/department on assigned units including senior level clinical leadership in treatment planning and patient care, program development and refinement, performance improvement activities and supervision and evaluation of staff performance. Provides primary oversight of the Social Work department when the Director is not on site, along with assigned administrative duties, including departmental staff meetings, payroll, staff attendance and other inpatient and/or hospital wide meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervisory clinical expertise in treatment planning and patient care to direct reports in assigned units.

  • Oversee and assist staff in managing clinical crises.

  • Provide clinical supervision to staff and facilitate team meetings.

  • Assist the Director in providing orientation for new employees and clearly communicating expectations.

  • Set goals for staff training, education and self-development in collaboration with clinical and administrative directors and oversee attendance at trainings.

  • Ensure staff compliance with annual competencies and assist in maintenance of human resource files with director.

  • Collaborate with Social Work/Case Management Director to develop and oversee all aspects of clinical services using best practices approaches for respective clinical inpatient population.

  • Ensures that best practice approaches are implemented in their clinical area.

  • Recommend areas for overall staff training and development as well as program growth in collaboration with administrative, and medical directors.

  • Monitor hospital resources and develop staff assigned to group schedules, and patient caseloads according to need. Work with other managers and coordinators to strengthen cross coverage across units.

  • Sets a tone and facilitates good working team relationships and communication; models Caring Customer Service behaviors for internal and external customers.

  • Set clear expectations for teamwork among staff.

  • Act as liaison within the PHBH continuum.

  • Works with director and nurse manager team to ensure collaboration across wings for patient care, discharges, transfers, transportation, and shared staff meetings.

  • Provide regular feedback of performance and annually evaluate the performance of assigned clinical staff.

  • Monitor staff progress toward the attainment of annual goals.

  • Participate in the preparation and revision of policies and procedures pertaining to Princeton House’s overall inpatient social work case management services.

  • Provide support and assistance with key information for Utilization Reviewer and UM process.

  • Monitor daily census of hospital programs on assigned units. Collaborates with clinical and administrative directors, marketing, and program staff to attain budgeted census and length of stay targets.

  • Work with social work director to ensure that the department services and staff remains in compliance with various regulatory bodies such as Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid, and the New Jersey DHS, DMHAS and DCF and annual required trainings and licenses.

  • Perform chart audits to assess staff compliance with documentation requirements.

  • Assists the Social Work Director in the implementation of hospital and program performance improvement plans, initiatives and goals.

  • Support customer service and performance improvement goals of the department; collaborate with other caregivers/staff within and outside of the department to develop means of enhancing patient care and service.

  • Provide unit-level oversight of issues such as incidents, complaints, length of stay, status at discharge, and attendance to ensure best possible treatment outcomes, in collaboration with the department Director.

  • With the Social Work Director, partner with PHBH marketing to market program(s) through a variety of mechanisms including presentations, meetings with referral sources, development of marketing strategies, etc.

  • Promote and maintain standards of confidentiality.

  • Participate in the coordination and supervision of weekend coverage.

Credentials:

  • Licensed Clinical SW (Required)

  • Independent licensure (LCSW, LCADC)

  • Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Counselor (Required)

  • Independent licensure (LCSW, LCADC)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Master of Arts or Science (Required)

  • Master's degree in Social work or related field and 5+ years mental health field and treatment of the program's patient population and 2+ years management experience.
