The Center for Communications Research - CCR-P: Princeton Senior HVAC Technician in Princeton, New Jersey

Summary

Under general supervision, performs maintenance procedures on all heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment, and performs other general building maintenance procedures. Monitors and adjusts the HVAC systems for efficient energy utilization. Due to the nature of the work and the requirement at times for extended coverage, this position is often required to work overtime hours or hours outside of a regularly scheduled shift.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for overseeing the continuous operation of the following equipment:

  1. Air Conditioning- all building and computer room units.
  2. Ventilation and Air Handling- all roof top exhaust fans and ventilating units.
  3. Heating- perimeter and domestic hot water boilers and steam generators.
  4. Refrigeration- the CRAY refrigeration system.
  5. HVAC Controls- the pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic computer room and building control systems.
  6. Other equipment- the elevator, air compressor, fire alarm system, water pumps, water cooler, water treatment center, and energy management systems.
  7. Building Maintenance- internal and external conditions of walls, small carpentry tasks, installation and maintenance of security cameras, all building lighting, and plumbing repairs and maintenance.
  8. Establishes and performs the preventative maintenance procedures required for all equipment. Maintains necessary tools to properly perform maintenance. Controls adequate spare and expendable parts level.
  9. Maintains log book for preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  10. Diagnose troubles and make repairs, minimizing down time.
  11. Monitors and adjusts the HVAC system for efficient energy utilization.
  12. May perform other duties not associated with HVAC technician maintenance such as electrical repairs and additions, non-structural welding, brazing, and soldering.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of technical training in HVAC maintenance from a recognized or accredited school. Three or more years of progressively responsible work experience as an HVAC Technician.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work irregular hours and in emergency call-in situations. Ability to work in all weather conditions and awkward positions (due to size, location, and position of equipment being maintained).

  • Ability to obtain required security clearances.

  • Must be willing to work overtime hours or hours outside of a regular schedule.

We support transparency, equity and fairness in our compensation program and provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range based on data-driven market analysis for each position. While it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $65,000-$104,000. Individual salary within this range will be commensurate with the incumbent's experience, unique skills and qualifications and other relevant factors.

Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required
