Brown University Admin and Financial Assistant in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

The Administrative and Financial Assistant (AFA) provides administrative and financial support to faculty in the Department of Computer Science and assists with supporting the department’s Undergraduate concentration program. The incumbent works on a team tasked with managing the Computer Science Department’s student payroll and assists with building access. The AFA will also work as a financial coordinator, processing reimbursements, ordering research materials, and taking on other tasks for the faculty and student groups they support.

Education and Experience:

  • An associate’s degree is required with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or equivalence of a college degree and no prior experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient computing skills (Workday, MS Office Suite, Google Docs, Gmail) and the willingness and ability to learn new skills.

  • Proficiency in preparing and updating spreadsheets for financial budgeting and tracking.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Must have a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive information.

  • Must be able to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to research, analyze, and summarize information.

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
