Brown University Alumni Leadership Associate in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

The Alumni Leadership Associate works closely with the Director to support the management of Brown’s various leadership councils, boards, committees, and communities. These communities are managed by the Office of Alumni Relations and help support the overall success of Brown. The Associate will support outreach and engagement; data tracking and management; and information and communication technologies that support the overall success of our leadership communities and the Alumni Leadership function.

The Associate will collaborate with colleagues across the department and the University, including colleagues in Development, the Office of the President, as well as academic departments and schools. The Associate will also work closely with volunteers and volunteer leaders within our constituency, including members of the President’s Leadership and Advisory Councils; members of the Brown Alumni Association; and officers of our classes, alumni clubs, and affinity groups, along with the various staff leads and liaisons that support each group.

The Associate will play a meaningful role in bringing our Alumni Leadership strategy to fruition and will provide invaluable insight and counsel on our leadership communities as we grow the lifelong connection our alumni have to Brown and to each other.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field such as development, volunteer management, alumni programming, event planning and support, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience and success in project coordination and event planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and project and time management skills.

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently multitask and prioritize workload.

  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to handle and complete multiple projects concurrently

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability with computer software programs including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook, and Google Workplace

  • Working knowledge of the Windows environment, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, electronic mail and calendars, mainframe, and internet/html that support Advancement efforts.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills, particularly an ability to deal diplomatically with a variety of often demanding and diverse University constituencies and the general public relations of the University

  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in alumni relations, higher education, or non-profit environment
