Job Description:
This position is for a Biostatistician within the Survey Research Center at the Brown University School of Public Health. Biostatisticians are specialists that collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data from living organisms. They work mainly with data gathered via medical and behavioral research, which they use to formulate conclusions and make predictions.
Job Qualifications :
Education and Experience
Master’s Degree and one (1) to three (3) years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) to seven (7) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Competencies
Knowledge of the field of Public Health and Behavioral Research
Experience with handling, managing, manipulating, and/or analyzing routinely collected health data, including data from wearable technologies (e.g., heart rate monitors, accelerometers, sleep trackers), physiological and biomarker data, psychosocial questionnaire data, and behavioral surveys
Advanced programming knowledge, skills, and experience in SAS, R, Stata, and/or SPSS
Data management and manipulation (e.g. derivation of variable, data quality control) experience
Experience implementing and familiarity with standard statistical techniques for RCTs and observational studies, including testing for association, regression, mediation, moderation, survival analysis, and basic study design
Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Creation of charts & graphs using Microsoft Excel and Power Point, and analysis of data.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
High degree of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion; proven ability to apply good judgement and responsible decision making.
Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
This is a hybrid eligible position.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 1/31/2026, which may be extended based upon available funding.
