Financial/Grants Management System Analyst

Office of Information Technology

The Financial/Grants Management Systems Analyst is a key member of the Workday Program team and the Office of Information Technology division. The role provides system support specifically for the area of post award grant accounting and financial management and will be the primary point of contact for the Office of Sponsored Projects and the Controller’s Office on the Workday team. This role will also provide support for audits and troubleshooting of awards, grants and contracts. This role also maintains financial modules and grants management configuration, system documentation and reporting support. The incumbent serves as liaison to partner offices at the University, including Office for the Vice President of Research (OVPR), the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), Controller, Advancement, Research Administration Information Systems (RAIS) and Internal Audit.

Additional responsibilities include providing support and training to the campus community in partnership with OIT, the Controller’s Office, Research Training Office and OSP. The Financial/Grants Management System Analyst participates in the implementation of HRS pre-award system and system support. The Financial/Grants Management System Analyst also provides support to comply with federal, sponsor and university financial guidelines; and maintaining high levels of customer support for faculty and department administrators.

The incumbent is responsible for understanding the system impacts of legal, regulatory, and policy issues that affect financial research administration and audit (such as 2 CFR 200, agency requirements, and GAAP).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 3-5 years grants management related experience and experience with ERP systems required

  • Working knowledge of financial accounting and experience working with general ledgers

  • Management in an institution of higher education, hospital, or non-profit organization, preferred

  • Workday experience required

  • Some experience with relational database systems and tools (e.g., SQL and SQL query tools such as Oracle SQL*Plus) and form development tools (e.g. HTML, XML)

  • Experience with data warehouse design and report writing; e.g. Cognos

  • Ability to manage and safeguard confidential financial and business data and to ensure confidentiality is maintained by staff.

  • Must have working knowledge of sponsored project accounting and reporting functions, federal regulations for sponsored project funding as well as award life cycle, including pre-award activities; experience with external audits.

  • Initiative and judgment to independently problem solve and prioritize. Ability to work independently, but also as a strong team player when needed.

  • Must have flexible and adaptive work style to manage multiple priorities to achieve goals for operational efficiency and fiscal stability.

  • Strong customer service orientation is required.

  • Ability to accurately document business processes and ERP systems' information architecture.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and the ability to facilitate group activities.

  • Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community .

Successful completion of a criminal background check and education verification is required.
