Brown University Proposal Coordinator in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

BioMed Research Administration offers a congenial, results-focused working environment in which staff members function as a team in conjunction with departmental support staff to offer comprehensive research support.

The Proposal Coordinator provides administrative pre-award services to campus-based and eligible hospital-based faculty, staff and students in the Division of Biology and Medicine using knowledge of University and sponsor rules and regulations related to research grants and contracts. BioMed Research Administration supports over 100 campus- based and affiliated hospital-based faculty across 14 departments who submit over 500 proposals annually. The Proposal Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interpreting solicitations and funding announcements, tracking and coordination of Divisional proposal submissions, proposal budget development, advising PI and department administrative staff on administrative requirements and best practices, and monitoring and facilitating proposal routing in compliance with University procedures.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Competencies

  • Exceptional planning, organizing and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work well with staff, faculty, deans, etc. in strong service environment

  • Must be able to shift focus and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Pro, Fastlane, NIH Commons, Grants.gov, COEUS and InfoEd.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex work environment and negotiate demands of a diverse constituency.

  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
