Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Position Details: Summary of Duties: Provide agriculture and natural resources educational outreach and training for the Colville Reservation as outlined in the goals, objectives and timeline of the USDA Federally Recognized Tribes Extension Program (FRTEP) grant project that funds this position. Programming work performed in cooperation with the WSU Colville Reservation Extension Team. This programming includes the development, organization, coordination, and implementation of Ag & Natural Resources programs and activities and youth-related agriculture 4-H outreach, within the policies and procedures of WSU Extension. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. • Relevant extension program discipline includes those related to any of the following: agriculture; natural resources; education; or other related field or equivalent education/experience explained in the application. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated work experience using these programs. • Must successfully pass the WSU background screening process. • Reliable transportation for year-round travel is required. Mileage will be reimbursed per WSU policy. While using a private vehicle for official business, must have at time of hire current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.30.020 and https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.29.090); and • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/ and departmental driving standards. • Some evening and weekend work is required. Preferred Qualifications: • Professional training in agriculture, natural resources, education or other related fields. • Experience in gardening, food sovereignty, food security, or food production. • Experience recognizing, understanding, and working with Native American communities, culture, customs, and values. • Experience working with a wide range of people from varied social and economic levels, ages, races, ethnic backgrounds as well as in rural, suburban, and urban settings. • Experience in preparing reports, evaluations, press releases, conveyance of program information to the public and program participants. • Experience in public speaking, effective conveyance of program information to the public, program participants, and decision-makers. • Experience working as a team member. Experience developing program materials. • Experience working/collaborating with multiple public agencies, and individuals in partnerships. • Knowledge of, and/or experience with, program assessment and evaluation. • Experience working with social media.
