Position Details:

 

Summary of Duties:

 

Under general supervision, perform custodial and maintenance tasks to maintain the cleanliness and care of facilities within residence halls/apartments/dining. Successful candidates must be willing and able to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning and minor maintenance repair wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including operating industrial cleaning equipment and power tools such as high-speed buffers, burnishers, shampooers, vacuum cleaners and hand drills. Successful candidates must also be willing and able to clean restrooms, classrooms, residence halls, offices and or similar facilities as well as perform minor maintenance tasks such as caulking, replacing toilet seats, lavatory handles, minor furniture repair, replacing outlet covers. Successful candidates must be able to move heavy items such as tables, furniture, cleaning equipment, supplies and other related devices. This position requires the ability to physically bend, stoop, lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds; to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift, climb and stand on ladders. May supervise lower level staff.

 

Position may work any of the following hours, dependent upon the departmental needs: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, 7:30 to 4:00 pm, 8 am to 4:30 pm, unscheduled work week, early mornings, swing, late evening, and weekend shifts.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• The ability to do required work, the ability to read and write AND six months experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.

 

• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/#four_3 and departmental driving standards.
