Available Title(s): 148N-YNCSNPS - Fiscal Technician 3 Business Title: Fiscal Technician 3 Employee Type: Classified Position Details: The Opportunity: As the Fiscal Technician 3, you will be a member of the School of Music (SoM) office team responsible for providing fiscal support in areas such as budget maintenance, payroll, purchasing, travel, expenditure control and/or fiscal analysis. Under general supervision, you will perform one or more fiscal administrative support functions for a department, research center or other organizational unit such as establishing and maintaining a comprehensive system for recording fiscal activity, coordinating purchasing functions, and expenditures control, coordinating payroll/personnel record keeping or maintaining revenue account records. You will exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying rules and regulations to resolve problems; independently advise principal investigators, staff and administrators regarding applicable policy and procedures; select/recommend alternative courses of action. You will also use established procedures in recording, summarizing and reporting fiscal activity. In this position, you will monitor grants and work with S&A student funds for Allegro and Athletic Bands (Cougar Marching Band). Required Qualifications: • High school diploma, or GED certificate AND fifteen quarter hours or ten semester hours of college-level accounting or bookkeeping AND two years of full-time experience as a Fiscal Technician, or equivalent, including experience using accounting-related software; An Associate of Arts Degree, or equivalent, in accounting or business may substitute for one year of required experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. • Experience managing budgets. • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience and/or knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations pertaining to fiscal management. • Knowledge of procurement policies and procedures. • Experience in analyzing, interpreting, and applying regulations, policies, and procedures in areas related to fiscal management and operations in a comparable, complex organization.
