Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. Power Engineer in Pullman, Washington

As a Power Engineer a typical day might include the following:

  • Further develop and maintain a detailed understanding of electric power systems and how to protect, monitor, and control the power system.
  • Assist in developing fault detection algorithms and solving new challenges electrical for power systems.
  • Assist in developing product specifications, develop, analyze and conduct functional tests.
  • Assist with developing application literature, instruction manuals, and data sheets.
  • Provide power engineering support for customer applications and Field Application Engineers.
  • Assist in writing and reviewing innovative power system protection solutions to present at technical meetings and conferences.

This job might be for you if:

  • You have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • You have typically 4+ years experience in electric power systems, protection practices, and philosophies.
  • You have excellent technical training skills.
  • You have an advanced degree in electrical engineering with emphasis on electrical power systems.
  • You have experience in power system load flow analysis and transient simulation and modeling using EMTP.
  • You are knowledgeable in computer sciences.
  • You have programming skills in at least one programming language such as Python, Matlab, or GO.
  • You have working knowledge of apparatus and protective relay application at an electrical utility, industrial plant.

Pay Range Data:

We anticipate filling this position as a Power Engineer $70,000 - $ 108,000. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
