INSTITUTE FOR SYSTEMS Postdoctoral Fellow in Queen Anne, Washington

The Gibbons Group is seeking a highly motivated scientist to conduct research investigating how the human gut microbiome modulates host responses to prebiotic, probiotic, and dietary intake. To accomplish this goal, the lab is developing community-scale metabolic models and generating data from high-throughput ex vivo stool fluxomic assays. The data will be used to explore how the microbiota transform dietary substrates into downstream metabolites. The successful applicant will be expected to design, execute, analyze, and troubleshoot modeling experiments and integrate ex vivo data with dietary intake and blood metabolomic data. Key responsibilities include Development microbial community-scale metabolic models Manage biobank and database from ex vivo assays Integrate modeling and ex vivo data Discuss and present research at internal and external meetings Manuscript preparation Qualifications: PhD in bioinformatics, microbial ecology, or systems biology. Strong interest in human microbiome research Ability to organize and prioritize work, work efficiently and independently Strong verbal and written communication skills ISB is an EOE (M/F/veteran/disability status)
