CHILDCARE PROVIDER

We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Childcare Provider to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Childcare Provider for our Families w/ Children facility located in the Jamaica area of Queens, NY. As the Childcare Provider, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, providing primary care for children in our Early Childhood Education program. ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS, INC.

Homes for the Homeless, Inc. (HFH) is a non-profit social services organization operating family shelters throughout NYC that serve as a hub of opportunity for families both residing in shelter as well as those in the neighboring community. On-site programs range from childcare, early childhood education centers, afterschool clubs and programs, and youth recreation activities, such as sports teams, to housing assistance, case management, parenting workshops, career and job vocational training, support groups and substance abuse assistance, and family engagement and recreation events for the whole family.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively create and maintain a child-oriented, trauma sensitive atmosphere.

  • Ability to follow a structured routine that consists of play-time, nap, meals, and circle time.

  • Assure children’s basic needs are met (food, clothing, safety, diapering, rest, etc.).

  • Create daily routines and meaningful experiences that are responsive to children’s strengths, interests, and needs.

  • Assist with daily health screenings and ensure all COVID-19 policies and procedures are followed.

  • Assist with administrative tasks including answering phones and recording attendance.

  • Assist in the day-to-day maintenance of the center.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with children from newborn to 2 years old.

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE/GED).

  • Ability to lift 40 or more pounds.

  • Ability to sit on the floor, bend and pick up children through the course of an eight-hour shift.
