Early Engagement Coordinator (ASAP Program Coordinator)

POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Associate Director of ASAP or her designee, the Early Engagement Coordinator (EEC) will play a key role in connecting students to the ASAP community and will contribute to ASAP’s missions of student retention and success. The Early Engagement Coordinator will be working in a team with the Early Engagement Specialist (EES) to provide a range of services to vulnerable populations of students to promote academic, professional, and personal development. The Early Engagement Team will be focused on enhancing the student experience, success and retention of student groups such as those in foster care, those on probation or academically adrift, first-generation students, adult learners, etc. In addition, the Early Engagement Coordinator will increase opportunities for community engagement by fostering a supportive, positive and impactful environment while promoting peer connection and student support services on and off campus. This role will be responsible for identifying ASAP students’ areas of need to provide comprehensive support and connection to campus resources. Additionally, the EEC will handle financial aid-related tasks, such as outreach to students and working on financial aid files, in collaboration with Financial Aid Specialists. This teamwork ensures that students receive the necessary support and resources to succeed academically and personally.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview duties, essential responsibilities include:

-Carry out engagement and re-engagement activities to support student success and assist program in meeting retention benchmarks

-Daily active student outreach via phone and email

-Connect new and continuing ASAP students to campus resources and engagement opportunities

-Co-facilitate training and provide resources on topics related to student engagement to ASAP staff members

-Facilitate workshops on student engagement topics, including but not limited to: Co-Curricular Involvement, Time Management, Study Skills, Learning Styles, Financial Aid, Stress Management and Test Anxiety, Foster Care Initiative (FCI), registration process, growth mindset etc.

-Collaborate with all ASAP peer groups (SI, Peer Mentoring, Student Ambassadors, FCI liaison) to ensure comprehensive programming

-Provide tailored support and outreach to various student populations

-Participate in the planning and execution of ASAP departmental events

-Maintain up to date student records and track data on programming and outcomes

-Other duties as assigned

-Some evening and weekends may be required

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

-Experience in higher education or working with college students strongly preferred

-Familiarity with mental health and social services resources in NYC

-A strong understanding of the needs of a diverse student population

-Experience developing, organizing and delivering presentations to students and staff

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills

-Experience communicating program requirements effectively to students, and building rapport with students, staff, and faculty

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CUNYFirst/Peoplesoft and the ability to learn new systems as needed

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) helps students earn their college degree as quickly as possible by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that many students confront. Key ASAP program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, required full-time study and comprehensive advisement and career development services. The ASAP Program Coordinator provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's ASAP program.

  • Monitors and maintains student enrollment and information databases; collects and maintains statistical data

  • Prepares reports and surveys using student information and enrollment data

  • Collects information to evaluate program/event success and reports results

  • Serves as liaison to various College offices to ensure smooth operations and verification of student information

  • Creates and distributes marketing and promotional and event materials for ASAP programming

  • Assists with the coordination and execution of student activities, workshops, meetings and special events

  • Performs related duties as assigned

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary range - $54,268 - $ 60,394.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO PreferredPlancandosobysubmittingaHIPHMOOpt-OutRequestFormtoEmblemHealth.An employee,oreligible dependent, mustmeet certain criteria and the requestmust be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
