The Test and Manufacturing Automation Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining customized automation equipment, processes, programs, and databases for global factories. The role involves supporting New Product Introduction and improving operational efficiency and quality by working closely with both R&D and operations teams. The engineer will handle test analysis, software development, and maintenance of test equipment, programs, and fixtures related to the development, fabrication, and production of products, including electromagnetic devices and higher-level assemblies.
Responsibilities
Maintain operations support with an analytical mindset to help deep dive data for quality issues and develop robust corrective actions.
Troubleshoot and determine root cause/corrective action (RCCA).
Design and modify a wide array of automated test and manufacturing/process equipment with regards to electrical schematics, mechanical CAD, test software, and SQL/MySQL databases.
Work with new and innovative equipment to maintain any system or process with an understanding of production requirements.
Support the implementation of Standard Work.
Perform necessary quality checks and data collection.
Collaborate with development team, manufacturing engineers, and production personnel to resolve technical issues identified through the development and manufacturing process.
Provide Design for Manufacturability/Testability feedback to the design team.
Participate in activities pertaining to product evaluation tests, including ABS events, design review meetings, and meetings with suppliers as required.
Store final Test Spec and Gauge R&R results in SVN.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 1-5 years of work experience in a manufacturing support environment.
Strong LabVIEW, C++, C#, Matlab, or VB experience.
CAD software design experience (e.g. AutoCAD, Solidworks, Inventor, or Pro-Engineer).
Strong electrical, mechanical, and controls background to troubleshoot systems, machinery, and test equipment.
2 years of experience with electric motors and/or rotating machinery.
Familiarity with database structure and SQL language.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
Experience in process improvement, software testing, automation, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of machine design, new product development, and commissioning.
Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Work Environment
The work environment is a manufacturing setting with a 24/5 operation, which may require more than 40 hours per week. The company has 600 employees across four plants on their campus. The testing team consists of 5-15 employees, including designers, engineers, and technicians. The team environment and culture are highly collaborative, with a strong emphasis on internal growth and professional development. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $52.88
