Salary Placement and Work Hours: This is a 12-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the E2, Grade 2 Salary Schedule with a range of $50,680-$68,169, dependent on applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the President. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Function*:The primary functions of the Custodial Services Coordinator are to provide oversight for and management of custodial services for the college, to supervise custodial staff, and to ensure that the college facilities are well-maintained and clean at all times. This employee will comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.

Duties and Responsibilities:The duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  1. Ensure that the college campus, buildings, and assigned off-site locations are well-maintained and thoroughly cleaned
  2. Establish weekly schedules for custodial staff to maintain and clean campus facilities
  3. Establish weekly schedules for custodial staff to most efficiently address institutional needs and to prepare for or assist with clean up after college events, while at the same time continuing to ensure that the campus is well cleaned and maintained
  4. Select suitable cleaning products and other custodial supplies for the campus
  5. Develop accountability checklists for bathroom assignments and ensure that each bathroom has information about how to promptly report needed maintenance or custodial attention
  6. Ensure that open spaces in hallways and stairwells are clear of clutter and/or are well-organized in appearance
  7. Complete daily inspections across campus to ascertain areas in need of custodial services and/or maintenance and. Areas of focus should include, but are not limited to, restrooms; classrooms; office space; lab space; hallways; sidewalks; trash bins; walking trail and other outdoor areas.
  8. Complete daily inspections to ensure that all custodial work is completed at a high standard and per established procedures and specifications
  9. Work directly with custodial staff to make improvements in cleaning techniques and/or to ensure that more attention is given to certain areas to improve cleanliness when necessary
  10. Supervise custodial staff to ensure that all buildings are maintained and cleaned on a regular, frequent schedule, including hallways, bathrooms, trash removal, classrooms, etc.; all employee requests for custodial services are completed in a timely manner; staff maintain appropriate work hours and record time according to institutional procedures; staff submit Employee Leave Requests for absences and monthly leave reports as required by institutional policy; all staff are functioning together as a team; and all staff adhere to institutional policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  11. Train custodial staff on departmental procedures and cleaning standards
  12. Ensure that all custodial staff follow sa ety standards for cleaning and maintaining facilities
  13. Hold regular meetings with custodial staff to discuss upcoming projects and college events and to identify any additional custodial needs or issues of the institution
  14. Create a schedule to regularly inspect supplies and tools utilized by the custodial staff
  15. Work with the Human Resources Director to conduct an annual assessment to ensure that the College is in compliance with Office of Civil Rights/ADA standards identified for restroom and other facilities
  16. Work with the Office of Institutional Planning and Assessment to identify areas possibly in need of attention as identified in the annual facilities surveys of students and employees
  17. Communicate regularly with the President regarding custodial needs of the institution
  18. Promptly address any issues identified by the President as being in need of attention
  19. Establish annual departmental budgets for submission to the President
  20. Submit and receive approval for purchase requests according to established procedures of the institution prior to the purchase of materials
  21. Be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends, in support of campus events and as needed to complete projects or address institutional custodial needs
  22. Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College
  23. Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community
  24. Serve on various institutional standing committees
  25. Prepare and maintain records of correspondence
  26. Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
  27. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by Supervisor and/or the President
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Proficient use of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing using such software as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc. isrequired
  2. A valid driver's license isrequired
  3. Excellent keyboarding skills
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills with proficiency in the English language
  5. Ability to compose and prepare accurate reports, records, and correspondence
  6. Demonstrated skill in the organization and analysis of data
  7. Understanding of the mission and goals of Northeast Alabama Community College and the Alabama Community College System

Minimum Required Education, Training and/or Experience:

  1. At least two years of documented experience in supervision of others isrequired
  2. An Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution ispreferred
