Northeast Alabama Community College Maintenance Technician in Rainsville, Alabama

Position Summary

Salary Placement and Work Hours: This is a 12-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the E3, Grade 4 Salary Schedule with a range of $39,759-$57,251, dependent on applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the President. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Start Date: September 2024

There will be up to two positions hired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION*:The primary function of the Maintenance Technician is to assist with the upkeep and maintenance of all college buildings, furnishings, equipment, and grounds. This employee must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist with the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of all buildings, furnishings, equipment, and grounds
  2. Assist in maintaining proper lighting (internal and external) on campus
  3. Assist in all moving and storage operations of physical plant equipment and supplies
  4. Assist in setting up tables, chairs, and needed equipment for special events and activities
  5. Assist in landscaping and grounds-keeping activities, such as mowing, bush hogging, removing campus debris and litter, and planting and watering campus plants and trees
  6. Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or other general maintenance work as directed
  7. Assist campus police with parking during the beginning of semesters and during high-attendance events
  8. Represent the Director of the Physical Plant in bid meetings and at meetings with the President and the Dean of Financial Services when necessary
  9. Locate and obtain prices on parts and submit purchasing information to the Dean of Financial Services when directed
  10. Conduct the servicing on all vehicles owned by the institution
  11. Serve on committees and participate in college activities
  12. Complete other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or the President
Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Multi-craft skills in electrical, carpentry, equipment operation, and/or plumbing isrequired
  2. Valid Alabama Drivers License isrequired
  3. Physical ability to perform strenuous manual labor and lift and move at least 40 lbs. isrequired
  4. Ability to operate machinery, including mowers and tractors
  5. Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings of machinery and mechanical equipment
  6. Ability to work professionally with others
  7. Excellent oral communication skills with proficiency in the English language
  8. Ability to work during days and occasional evenings and weekends as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School Diploma or GED isrequired
  2. Associates degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution ispreferred
  3. Three years of experience in a maintenance-related job ispreferred
