Siemens Energy Commissioning Engineer for High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Transmission - DC Protection (DCP) in Raleigh, North Carolina
A Snapshot of Your Day
In our HVDC Protection Team, we are testing and verifying the hardware and software for our innovative HVDC Projects in our Test Center and ensure accurate functionality and good quality of our HVDC Plants worldwide during commissioning. Our diverse and multinational teams are working closely together with project management, engineering as well as with end customers to provide customized solutions based on the latest innovations in HVDC technology.
How You’ll Make an Impact
You will actively advance the Energy Transition by bringing our HVDC projects to a successful completion with our customers
You are part of a project team in Integration Testing and you carry out Functional Tests of the Control & Protection hardware and software in one of our test centers
You independently trace bugs and support our Software Engineering in debugging
You are responsible for the execution and documentation of the Functional Performance Tests (FPT) and Dynamic Performance Tests (DPT) of the HVDC System, including Customer Acceptance Tests in one of our test centers
You will be responsible for the commissioning of the Measuring System, the DC Protection System and the Transient Fault Recorder for our HVDC Projects as a part of a highly motivated team, at our customers sites worldwide
You will support our Commissioning Management in Quality, Risk and Claim Management and you actively participate in our improvement programs
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, energy technology or comparable education / qualification. Inverter Technology specialization preferred.
3+ years working experience in the field of Electrical Engineering and Commissioning of Electrical Power Stations or HVDC Systems preferred. Candidates with less experience still encouraged to apply.
Good knowledge in one or more of the following areas: project planning and testing via MATLAB/SIMULINK, Siemens SIMATIC TDC/S7, CFC, grid protection systems
Knowledge in Current- and Voltage Measuring devices and other primary equipment
Proficient English language skills, further language skills are very welcome
Reliable teammate, skilled in communication, proactive in addressing conflicts, possesses strong decision-making capabilities.
Willingness and ability for worldwide for frequent business trips and mainly long-term assignments on construction sites in Germany and abroad, as well as optional assignments on offshore platforms
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
