Job Title: Land Surveyor Instrument Operator

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Instrument Operator or Party Chief to lead a surveying crew on projects throughout the S.E. region. This role involves leading a survey crew or aiding the survey crew chief, ensuring the quality, accuracy, thoroughness, clarity, and safety of survey operations while meeting schedules, staying within budgets, and providing responsive service to clients. Responsibilities include organizing fieldwork, directing crew members, maintaining a safe work environment, protecting and maintaining equipment and vehicles, accurately collecting field data, delivering data to the office, and maintaining accurate records of work and expenses.

Hard Skills

• Experienced in leading a crew as a crew chief

• Ability to survey independently

• Familiarity with surveying terms

• Proficiency in the use and care of survey tools and equipment

• Experience with Total Station/Data Collector, Level, and various GPS methods

Soft Skills

• Ability to supervise and evaluate work priorities

• Strong coordination and organizational skills

• Effective communication with engineering personnel, clients, and other stakeholders

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Raleigh, North Carolina.
