The Role

The Site Utility Person will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping of multiple sites. This role is required to work safely and productively in an industrial maintenance environment. The Site Utility Person should be available for any schedule and have the ability to move to our other locations as needed. This includes working overtime and weekends as needed. The incumbent must be highly motivated, able to complete tasks without direct supervision, and have the ability to communicate issues to their supervisor. This role receives guidance with respect to general objectives. In the majority of tasks and projects assigned, the incumbent determines methods, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignments while operating within specific policy guidelines. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other tasks as assigned and directed by the Supervisor/Manager Asphalt/Concrete Plant Operations. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) as required. This job description provides an overview of responsibilities and task to be performed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complies with all safety policies, procedures and established safe practices. Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or the Manager Safety & Health.

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22.

  • Lead Recycling Person utilizing site equipment and processes to responsibly handle any returning material.

  • Lead site housekeeper responsible for plant & yard upkeep plus daily cleaning of central mixer, containment areas, weir pits, and all areas under and around plants.

  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Performed w ith a routine schedule set by the plant supervisor’s based on equipment demand and tracked on a pre-determined site maintenance calendar.

  • Visually and audibly inspects plant machines and equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repairs for machinery.

  • Assists in the reporting of the maintenance completed, parts replaced, and issues on each piece of equipment.

  • Assists in the dismantling of defective machines and equipment and installation of new or repaired parts.

  • Helps assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and helps repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

  • Climbs stairways and catwalks to perform duties.

  • Supports Loader Operator by learning position’s responsibilities and how to operate and inspect loader, skid steer, dump truck, and sweeper.

  • Develops ability to safely use cutting torch and/or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

  • Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing products and supplies manually.

  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experiences

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. Less than one (1) year of related experience required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Current North Carolina Driver’s License required
