Our Algorithms, Modeling & Assessments Division in the person, NC is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with experience in both Windows and Linux operating systems. The role involves developing and improving an existing weapon effects software architecture for advanced physics-based computational models deployed through standalone applications, web services, and Docker containers. This system is utilized by the Department of Defense. Candidates should have a strong passion and background in software development and be committed to producing quality software throughout all stages of the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve weapon effects software architecture.

• Work with advanced physics-based computational models.

• Deploy software through standalone applications, web services, and Docker containers.

• Collaborate with team members to integrate and optimize software systems.

• Ensure software meets Department of Defense standards and requirements.

• Communicate and present findings to various audiences.

• Grow into a leadership role within the team.

Essential Skills

• Experience with software development in Windows and Linux environments.

• Proficiency in C++ and Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu).

• Modeling and simulation experience.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Ability to communicate and present to various audiences.

• Masters or higher in Engineering (Mechanical), Physics, Nuclear, Material Science, or Statistics/Math.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Fortran, IntelliJ, or Visual Studio.

• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence) and GitLab.

• Experience with CMake.

• Prior experience with weapon effects or other related DoD software systems and models.

• Interest in data science, data analysis, data visualization, and mathematical algorithms.

Work Environment

Candidates must be within a 30-40 minute commute to the office located at 8537 Six Forks Rd, the person NC. The majority of the work is remote, with occasional on-site requirements for classified work, trainings, and demonstrations. Travel is minimal, less than one week per year. Work from home is allowed after 1-3 months, depending on progress toward becoming fully productive and integrated into the team. Performance issues may result in the suspension of work from home privileges. Candidates must be US citizens and clearable up to TS-SCI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00
