AVID4 ENGINEERING INC Civil Engineering Technician - Construction Observation in Rapid City, South Dakota

[The general duty for this Civil Engineering Technician - Construction Observation job is to serve as the Resident Project Representative for the Project Engineer. The primary responsibility will be to observe construction to assure materials and workmanship are in conformance with contract documents. This is a full-time position in Rapid City, SD.[ Normal office hours are[ Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM. Work schedules vary according to construction schedules and as weather allows. Work schedules may include early mornings, evenings, and occasional work on weekends. Overtime may be required during construction season.   • Documenting daily activities.
  • Investigating potential changes/deviations and reporting to Project Engineer.
  • Recording changes/modifications for preparation of record drawings.
  • Tracking material quantities for preparation of pay applications.
  • Coordinating, observing, and documenting required tests,
  • Coordinating with contractors, project owner, landowners, and general public.
  • Attending project meetings.
  • Preparing written communications.
  • Performing other contract administration and observation duties as assigned.

  • Specialized Experience: Five (5) years of documented experience as an on-site construction observer/inspector performing the duties required of this position as described. OR Education: Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology and two (2) years of experience as an on-site construction observer/inspector performing the duties required of this position as described.
  • Additional education, certification or experience in computer-aided drafting, surveying, and materials testing may be considered as relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication skills and design skills.
  • Valid drivers license is required.
