The Compensation Analyst position plays an important role within our Total Rewards function. This position will be responsible for submitting and reviewing market survey data and providing compensation recommendations on all positions. Manages the administration of the Company's total compensation programs including merit and promotion cycles, incentive programs and other reward programs including relocation, service awards, internal recognition programs, etc. Provides information and support during union negotiations. Communicates and provides education on compensation programs and philosophy to employees and leaders across the organization. Also responsible for researching, analyzing, and preparing HR information and data to support the company's rate review process. Partner with HR and Regulatory teams to develop regulatory data models and templates for rate cases, data review and testimonial support. Translate/interpret various HR related data to support rate case submissions.

Pay Range:This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.

Compensation Analyst:$75,550 - $113,350

Senior Compensation Analyst:$88,700 - $133,150

Reporting Relationship:Senior Manager, Compensation

Location:Our corporate headquarters located in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Essential Functions:

• Evaluate and market price all positions and make recommendations on slotting when market information may not exist or match. Based on market analysis, recommend appropriate pay range, job code, title and FLSA overtime exemption classification. Recommend appropriate pay ranges and review job descriptions to ensure they reflect appropriate title, essential functions, and qualifications.

• Coordinate, administer and assess compensation plans (base pay, incentives and stock compensation).

• Assist and support the design and implementation of the Company’s total compensation programs. Provide guidance to management through interpretation of compensation programs. Assist in the assessment of the impact of existing compensation programs through modeling.

• Review and make recommendations with job offers for internal and external candidates, utilizing appropriate internal and external equity reviews.

• Complete compensation surveys from a wide variety of sources in order to capture compensation data based on the market.

• Maintain the compensation systems and technology, ensuring regular uploads are performed from the linked systems. Work closely with HRIS to ensure systems meet compensation needs and update changes as well as assist with testing and implementation.

• Prepare communications material to advise employees at all levels of changes to individual’s pay including widely distributed compensation incentive target information, etc.

• Establish and maintain appropriate vendor and/or outside company contacts that are required for the administration of established compensation programs and research studies. Participate in compensation surveys conducted by other organizations.

• Foster and promote proactive communication within the Human Resources Department and throughout the corporation.

• Obtain, analyze and interpret Human Resources-related data to be used in regulatory reports, filings and studies.

Senior Level:

• The Senior Compensation Analyst role is the primary lead on running compensation event cycles, training, giving presentations, communicates and influences stakeholders at all levels.

• Develops creative solutions to specific compensation related programs to align with strategy and influences adoption and adherence though enterprise-wide leadership.

• Consults and advises HRBP and Talent teams on job descriptions and offers.

• Responsible for all essential functions in previous section above.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist with special projects as requested.

• Support and/or participate in continuous improvement efforts.

• Participate and represent the corporation in civic, industry and professional organizations.

• Assist in the development of rate strategies that will optimize company profitability.

What You'll Need:

Compensation Analyst:

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

• Minimum of three (3) years of professional compensation, financial analyst or other relevant analytical experience required.

Senior Compensation Analyst:

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

• Minimum of five (5) years of professional compensation, financial analyst or other relevant analytical experience required.

What Is Desired Or Can Be Taught:

• Exhibit a high degree of professionalism, customer service and confidentiality.

• Proven understanding of compensation including compliance with state and federal laws that apply to base, bonus and incentive plans.

• Effective collaboration skills and excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

• Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform complex analysis. Ability to interpret and analyze data and explain it to end users.

• Ability to prioritize and organize work; demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining project schedules.

• Sophisticated skills in Microsoft Office Products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Comfortable working in a variety of 3rd party computer applications including HRIS systems, and other niche software as required.

• Work effectively in a diverse group and independently.

• Manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines in an environment of rapid change.

• Maintain accurate and detailed records.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of business and personal compensation information.
