The Sr. Director, Deliver Emerging Capabilities, will be a strategic leader responsible for ensuring the Johnson & Johnson Global Deliver organization is positioned for the future by focusing on four key capability areas: New Product Introduction (NPI), Network Scenario & Capacity Management (Distribution), Risk Management, and Digital and Analytics.

This role will involve leading the development and deployment of IM Distribution network strategies and capacity management scenario planning. The aim is to ensure the effectiveness of the existing end-to-end supply chain while preparing for emerging future portfolios and therapies. Strategies will build upon current strengths and create additional capabilities to meet future needs.

This position requires the translation of strategy to multiple levels within the organization to provide clear direction. This includes defining core and non-core platform capabilities and developing sourcing guidance aligned with these, while considering unique product requirements. The Sr. Director will collaborate with Regional Deliver, Value Chain, Network Strategy, and other IM leaders to ensure solutions incorporate broad and diverse insights for end-to-end optimization.

Building and maintaining external connections to identify marketplace and industry trends relevant to the supply chain is essential to ensure benchmarks are achieved, maintaining Deliver’s competitiveness. Enhancing short-term capacity management and creating a Deliver Strategic Capacity Management Capability are crucial, alongside supporting the development of business cases for network-related projects. The role involves proactively identifying emerging product portfolio trends relevant to supply chain capability and distribution capacity, developing recommendations, and securing leadership endorsement.

Ensuring Deliver readiness to support NPI launches, including advanced therapies over the Long-Range Financial Plan (LRFP), is critical. This includes integrating Deliver into JJIM Supply Chain strategic processes, increasing end-to-end collaboration, and driving end-to-end value. The Sr. Director will ensure strong processes, such as playbooks, are in place for customer service and last-mile integration to support NPI launches, translating key capabilities into strategic programs.

The Sr. Director will also ensure the resilience and strong risk management of the Deliver Network, including strengthening Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Cyber Security. Adopting the IM Resiliency Framework and developing systems to assess end-to-end network resiliency, maintaining a comprehensive Deliver Risk Register, and prioritizing risk mitigation activities into business planning and LRFP is crucial. Investments must be tied to the risk management program and prioritized accordingly.

The role requires ensuring robust digital and analytic capabilities to support global deliver areas, such as customer analytics and capacity management. The Deliver Digital & Analytics strategy must be well-connected with the IM Digital Council and articulated into key investment areas and capabilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Accountable & Responsible for the Long Term IM Deliver Global Distribution Strategy including capacity modeling & investment planning

  • Risk Management for Deliver (Revenue Concentration, BCPs, Cybersecurity, etc)

  • Ensure digital strategy and capabilities for Digital and Analytics to support Network, Distribution and Customer

  • Act as Deliver POC for Network Strategy, Global Sourcing Committee and Strategic Sourcing Interface (Large Molecule & Small Molecule Platforms)

  • Member of the IM Network Global Committee

  • Oversee the development and execution of internal strategies designed to drive efficient & effective management processes across our internally & externally managed distribution centers

  • Proactively surface and resolve key issues with a great sense of urgency, demonstrates continuous improvement including footprint, resource management, leveraged value, technology

  • Ensure Deliver is integrated into existing E2E business processes for Network Strategy and Product Portfolio Management, including LRFP & BP strategic plans

  • Engage both with internal & external sources to drive continuous improvement for the organization and benchmarks

  • Drive a CREDO based culture across his / her organization

  • Drive a culture of Safety & Compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or university equivalent) in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field

  • A minimum of 15 years combined experience relevant to pharmaceutical supply chain, R&D, business development or similar areas

  • Recent experience working in Supply Chain operations (Make or Deliver Preferred)

  • Experience leading large, complex and interdependent initiatives in a matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across all levels of the global supply chain (including to senior leaders).

  • Ability to collaborate and influence across franchises, business segments and functions using data driven analyses and insights.

  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities. Ability to leverage data to drive decisions.

  • Ability to translate internal and external insights into real-world strategies that can be adapted to the specific needs of the organization
