The Vice President (VP), Global Medical Affairs, Solid Tumors is responsible for leading the strategy and delivery of the Solid Tumor medical and scientific value proposition worldwide to improve patient outcomes. The position will report to the Vice President of Oncology Global Medical Affairs, and will be an enterprise leader serving GCSO and R&D leadership teams, working in close collaboration with the global R&D, GCSO and regional medical affairs teams. The role will be accountable for the following:

  • Design the overarching strategic and tactical plans necessary to grow JJIM’s world class solid tumor oncology portfolio of products resulting in transformational patient outcomes

  • Achieve the clinical, scientific and value-oriented differentiation required to compete along the decision making contiuum for investigational and key marketed products through worldwide evidence generation programs and the development of scientific communications activities.

  • Lead the Global Medical Affairs Solid Tumor medical organization with a focus in leading a high functioning team, knitting together the overall strategy and strategic priorities for the solid tumor business.

  • Lead the development and growth of the team and culture. Build on the broader Global Medical Affairs organizations culture of collaboration, innovation and competitiveness– by demonstrating leadership behaviors and working collectively across the organization.

  • Preparing for the launch of new assets over the next 2-3 years in current and new therapeutic areas and in new business models

  • Development of a portfolio approach in GU malignancies, Lung and GI malignancies.

  • Champion and accelerate forward looking worldwide medical adoption strategies for solid tumors accompanied by integrated worldwide evidence generation plans

  • Create advocacy and partnership with key external stakeholders, working closely with the VP of Oncology Global Medical Affairs, VP of Hematology Global Medical Affairs, External Scientific Engagement Leader, Global Head of Strategy and Execution, Global Head of Evidence Generation and Execution, and Global Head of Pre-approval Access and Patient Advocacy, inclusive of medical societies and patient organizations, living and creating an envitonment of customer focus and centricity

  • Shape clinical development of lifecycle and new products through insights and needs of worldwide market captured from global stakeholders

  • Expand the Oncology pipeline through partnership with business development and R&D teams.

  • Lead the Global Medical Affairs solid tumor team through growth and change; accountable for development of a global medical adoption strategies, worldwide integrated evidence generation strategies; develop lifecycle management strategies and partner with regional Med Affairs and R&D to ensure that medical affairs perspectives are fully integrated into the clinical development proce

  • Lead evidence generation and communication activities. Ensure appropriate communication of data internally and externally, through publications and MSL activities.

  • Execute complex clinical development programs to continue to support key Oncology medicines and explore new disease areas in which these medicines may have clinical value.

  • Develop in-house solid tumor global medical affairs organization to ensure high level of team-effectiveness; build talent with high level competencies and skills to enable a highly effective and integrated data generation and communication process. Lead the digital transformation effort to engage with external customers and stakeholders at the highest level.

  • Build external reputation of the Oncology organization as creHave ultimate accountability for optimization of solid tumor global medical affairs strategies and tactics partnering with the DAS and R&D leadership as well as regional medical affairsdible experts and indispensable partners. Ensure operations and activities follow the J&J Compliance principles, inclusive of Health Care Compliance and other relevant guidelines. Responsible to ensure consistency and harmonization of the most critical policies, processes and procedures relevant to the Medical Affairs organization.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced Degree required (MPH, PharmD, PhD, MD)

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Medical Affairs and/or R&D experience, with strong global experience of multi-billion dollar brands.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and motivating talent and teams at scale across a matrix.

  • Demonstrated experience leading medical affairs teams evidenced by strong business acumen and understanding of market dynamics and value drivers globally in the oncology space.

  • Demonstrated experience engaging and partnering with KOLs and important external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience with new product launches and launch excellence processes.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading global medical affairs teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate as medical spokesperson for Sr. level audiences and media.

  • Demonstrated ethical and compliant leadership aligned to Credo principles.

  • Experience in Global/International markets is desired.

  • Experience with global strategic planning and portfolio development desired.

  • Experience with people leadership.

  • Experience leading teams within a matrix environment to in a high pressure, time sensitive environment; establish and achieve shared goals.

  • 25% Travel

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $203,000 to $373,750.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
