Saint-Gobain Design Engineering Lead in RAVENNA, Ohio

Design Engineering Lead located in Ravenna, Ohio will provide technical expertise to both management and other engineers in their area of specialization. Through an understanding of new technology and anticipation of the benefits offered, coordinates the timing and directions of engineering and systems staff efforts to gain the maximum short and long-term benefits of innovative thinking.

Provides engineering leadership, expertise and project management for aerospace composites and radome products, design and manufacturing processes. Develop and implement products, associated tooling, equipment, materials, processes, and systems into production to increase sales, improve quality, lower costs, or increase capacity. Assist the production, quality, and sales department in the solution of technical problems.

Essential functions include:

  • Design & develop composite aerospace structures, manufacturing processes, tooling, and engineering documentation required for the manufacture of new products, verify that the design meets or exceeds all customer requirements and is in compliance with FAA or other regulatory agency requirements.

  • Directs and coordinates the implementation of approved program plans to schedule.

  • Provides personal technical input and leadership to all design projects.

  • Assists manager in establishing department goals metrics and budgets.

  • Assists in the preparation of economic analyses and justification of projects.

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other Engineering field, Physics

  • The position requires extensive background and experience in the theory and practice of the areas of expertise that normally would be acquired by work experience: Knowledge of design principles and CAD software (CATIA) -to create tooling and product design

  • Demonstrated positive communication

  • Knowledge of specification testing for environmental, lightning and the like

PREFERRED:-

  • Masters of Science degree or higher in Engineering or physics

  • Previous leadership experience
