GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

This position includes a variety of tasks involving the day-to-day operation of the Office of Admissions and Records from a student’s admission to graduation at Hinds. Individuals in this position must be task-orientated and take the initiative to perform a variety of tasks concerning student success, retention and graduation with little direct supervision. Flexibility to assume additional responsibilities as needed as well as the ability to function well under the pressure of deadlines is a necessity.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) and at least two (2) years of experience in Admissions and Records, Academic Advising or a related student services area are required. At least five (5) years of relevant customer service experience is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation and best practices
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Above average computer skills with working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms, etc.)
Perform a variety of tasks involving the day-to-day operations of the Records office
Possess the ability to function well under the pressure of deadlines
Receptivity to instructions and guidelines in a positive and hospitable manner
Possess a strong work ethic centered on teamwork and student success
Ability to thoroughly complete tasks delivered through oral and written communications with attention to details and a high level of accuracy
Process enrollment verification and transcript requests as needed
Maintain transcript request website
Post transfer work
Exercise critical thinking skills while researching and analyzing course information from colleges and universities for the purpose of articulating the course information to Hinds’ course information
Build and maintain course articulations in Navigator
Serve as a liaison between the Records office, deans and curriculum coordinators in matters concerning transfer credit articulation
Assist with graduation tasks
Scan and index documents
Attend and assist in the set up for graduation ceremonies
Answer phone and assist students and guests with general information
