Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC Mechanical Design Sr. Engineer in Raymond, Ohio

Manage engineering resources to create 3D designs and 2D layouts using the CATIA design software (CAD/CAE). Correlate and complete tooling release. Perform cost calculation, evaluation preparation, and technical evaluation preparation; investigate and implement design changes, and coordinate proper application of design changes to next vehicle build event.  Develop automotive body structures and components in the Upper body Design Department.  Make 3D designs and 2D layouts for responsible areas. Develop body system designs that meet or exceed customer expectations for Safety, Durability, and Ride & Handling specifications. Work on improving the capabilities of the development teams through collaboration with the design, test and manufacturing groups.  Design areas covered include Body structural elements for Upper body Cabin, Styling related parts (Fender, Side Panel Outer, Roof and Moldings), Material types (steel, high strength steel, ultra-high strength steel, aluminum, magnesium, composites, plastics, asphalts, rubber), and processes (stamping, casting, extrusions, injection molding, vacuum forming, forging and others). *Requirements: *Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; 6 yrs relevant professional exp; 6 yrs exp in engineering; 6 yrs exp in automotive design; 5 yrs exp utilizing CATIA to create detailed 3D surface models for automotive body parts; 5 yrs exp utilizing CATIA to create detailed 2D drawings and specifications for automotive body parts; 5 yrs exp working with spot-welded steel white body construction methods and evaluating and applying these methods based on specific vehicle targets; 5 yrs exp working with SUV and Light-truck vehicle dynamic and safety requirements, and determining and developing the most cost and weight efficient white body construction to achieve these requirements; 5 yrs exp controlling complete vehicle packaging; 5 yrs exp evaluating styling concept sketches and clay models to access feasibility of white body construction; 3 yrs exp benchmarking automotive industry white body construction methods; 3 yrs exp assigning and managing work by directing, delegating, and confirming results of engineering resources; 3 yrs exp of cross-functional collaboration to create, solve, and countermeasure engineering solutions for Upper body designs; and 3 yrs of exp of cost calculations and correlation with purchasing department, factory, and suppliers.  Telecommuting Optional - May work from any location in Ohio subject to company hybrid work policy.
