Actalent Controls Engineer in Redford, Michigan

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Controls Engineer, specializing in IIoT Software Development. In this role, you will utilize your experience in code and application development to complete IIOT and Industrial Controls Application Solution Development for focused projects and defined priorities. You will lead projects supporting manufacturing business units by leveraging advanced technologies and delivering key capabilities as required. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver planned project deliverables, benchmark new technologies, develop supplier partnerships, and provide technical leadership. Your expertise will also include mentoring peers, documenting technical knowledge, and working closely with Manufacturing Operations to address technical challenges and opportunities.

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline

  • 1+ years code development experience in controls-based solutions

  • Direct experience with Automotive Manufacturing

  • Siemens TIA Portal Software code development

  • Working knowledge of SCL or STL language

Soft Skills

  • Technical leadership

  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Mentoring and coaching

  • Benchmarking and developing supplier partnerships

Work Environment

The position is based onsite at the Manufacturing Technology Development Center, with core working hours from 9:00am to 3:00pm, requiring a total of 8 hours within these core hours. You will need to be onsite Tuesday-Thursday, and preferably 5 days initially to integrate with the team and culture. Travel to the plant to oversee implementations will be required within a launch atmosphere, which can last 11-13 days as needed. This travel is rare but necessary when it occurs.
