Description

Are you an international trade attorney looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, innovative company? Come have fun and make history with Amazon's Global Trade Legal team. We are looking for a talented attorney to manage international trade legal work in support of Project Kuiper, Amazon’s initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

In this role, you will work closely with Kuiper’s Global Trade Compliance team as counsel on global trade legal matters associated with Kuiper’s expansion into and operation in countries around the world. You will work on complex and high-stakes global trade issues affecting current and future business models and technologies at Project Kuiper. You will provide strategic advice as Project Kuiper expands trade operations into new countries, including to engineers and program managers to support the development and deployment of Project Kuiper infrastructure. You will also work with compliance and logistics professionals to build and improve trade compliance policies and procedures. Your work will also involve support of discreet trade matters globally, including HTS classification and country of origin determinations; export classification and licensing requirements; trade regulatory changes; government trade inquiries and customs disputes; and trade related supply chain initiatives, including FTAs and FTZs

Responsibilities include performing legal research; providing legal and risk analysis; drafting guidance documents, decision memos, regulatory submissions, and correspondence; managing internal data collection/review projects; developing and implementing processes to simplify or automate recurring tasks; and coordinating with compliance professionals, government relations specialists and other legal partners.

The candidate will also be client-service oriented, have great attention to detail while still meeting tight deadlines, have great organization skills, and have the ability to easily switch gears. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment, even in ambiguous situations. A high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information, as well as the ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside the company, is essential.

This position will be based in Redmond, WA. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.
