Job Title: Designer 2

Job Description: Create designs, prototypes and/or concepts for business productivity, gaming, entertainment, or other software or hardware applications.* Leverage innovative techniques to ensure products and services are desirable, relevant, usable, personal, and feasible. Conceptualize and facilitate ideation sessions, storyboarding, and brainstorming to develop user scenarios and sketch early stage mockups. Drive design from definition to ideation to delivery. Produce design briefs and support the production of information architecture diagrams, wireframes, interaction flows, low-fi prototypes, or other artifacts required to develop and evolve user experience designs. Implement Microsoft visual design languages for production of designs. Collaborate with cross functional teams to translate user feedback and telemetry into design solutions. Create special effects, designs, or other visual images using industry design technologies that improve Microsoft product user experience or other world class creations like computer games. Telecommuting permitted up to 100% from any location in the U.S.

*This includes design of internal and external engineering tools in Azure DevOps for Microsoft developers and enterprise customers to improve engineering productivity and ensure compliance and security in their workflow. Design user interface and user experience of tools based in Azure DevOps, Azure Portal, and GitHub enterprise (for Microsoft users). Specifically: Hosted pools (build infrastructure tool in Azure Portal); CloudTest (test results and debugging tool in Azure DevOps); and Start Right (onboarding tool in GitHub enterprise for Microsoft users). Requirements:

  • Education: Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Fine Art, Computer Design, Interaction Design, Multimedia Art, Media, Animation, Visual Arts or related.
  • Experience: 36 months of experience in any design related occupation
  • Education or Experience in: Web UI, Visual Design, Wireframing and Prototyping, Journey Mapping, Information Architecture, Design Patterns, and User Research.

Pay Range and Benefits Information: The offered base pay range for this specific position (ML99693D), in Redmond, WA (but telecommuting permitted 100% from any location in the US) is $165,000 - $195,000.

Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.?
