Microsoft Corporation Director of Strategic Planning - Account Based Marketing (ABM) in Redmond, Washington

As part of our Commercial Cloud Marketing team, within the Global Demand Center, the Account Based Marketing (ABM) Strategic Planning lead will guide a highly collaborative, global annual and quarterly planning and landing process for our ABM programs.

This new role, Director of Strategic Planning - Account Based Marketing (ABM), is a critical function that will centralize and standardize the ABM planning process, budget management across the ABM extended team partners, including: paid media, AI data science team, technical capabilities, integrated marketing, global landing, as well as our quarterly Rythem of Business (ROB) and reporting. Account Based Marketing has been transforming the Microsoft connected sales and marketing motion, and we need your strategic organization skills to help take it to the next level. ABM is dedicated to driving new business across our entire Microsoft commercial cloud portfolio with deep connections and accountability into our sales organization. Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for the on-time launch of all ABM components globally, aligned to business strategy and core business KPIs across our four major commercial solution areas including Azure, Microsoft 365, Security and Dynamics 365. Your goal is to create clarity out of a complex structure, ensure stakeholders are aligned on inputs/outputs needed, leading communications, and ensuring for consistent planning, execution and business impact.

Responsibilities

• ABM Virtual Team Management. ABM business leads are a part of each of the business aligned teams in the GDC. You will serve as the cross-prodcut lead to ensure ABM leads are planning in alignment with consistency, and have guidance on business requirements, workbacks, timelines and deliverables are developed and shared. (Please note the ABM leads do not report to this role, this role is an individual contributor role)

• Annual and Quarterly Planning. You will facilitate our annual and quarterly planning process across Sales, Product Marketing and the GDC ABM teams. This role will facilitate the annual planning process for each of our businesses to align clean inputs/outputs to drive clear plans, coverage, and targets for the fiscal year.

• ABM ROB and Performance Reviews to look holistically across the businesses for learnings and optimization with a team of analysts and in partnership with the ABM leads. Ensure alignment from business aligned working teams, to executive reviews. Ensure business leads have access to required dashboard and performance metrics.

• ABM Extended Team Management. With nearly 10 teams and 65+ people supporting ABM, you will help look across those teams to drive innovation, progress and impact. With each team you will lead planning, budget allocation, and business impact. You will help drive process improvement, ensure clear communications, and work across the teams for end to end visibility of deadlines and critical dependencies across teams.

• Communications & Documentation. Manage, maintain and publish core documentation on how we run ABM, including an ABM Playbook and ABM SharePoint site to educate and onboard corporate and field marketers as well as regular comms on intakes, due dates, and deliverables, with project management support behind you.

• Improvement & Innovation. The ABM team has driven highly strategic projects across the entire commercial marketing organization, and we will continue to look for areas for improvement, innovation and increased business impact, including the advancement of new tooling and generative AI.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 8+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of experience leading B2B Marketing, Go-To-Market (GTM) and/or Sales planning process.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 12+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of experience B2B marketing with experience in digital marketing planning, project management skills, analytical abilities, and communication skills.

  • Experience in strategic planning across sales and/or marketing with the ability to bring clarity to complex situations, with comms experience.

  • A proven track record of working in large, complex matrixed organizations, coordinating across large numbers of stakeholders

  • Growth mindset to continually be learning and improving, along with a passion to help other be successful.

Business Program Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
