INTEGRATION & TEST ENGINEER (STARLINK PROPULSION)

As an Integration & Test Engineer for Starlink propulsion, you will have the opportunity to develop, implement, and optimize production processes for key sub-assemblies and components of the electric propulsion system comprised of the Argon Hall Thruster, propellant storage & feed system, as well as the satellite primary structure. Engineers on this team must have a working knowledge of design, schematics, operations, manufacturing, and testing. A successful Integration and Test Engineer demonstrates engineering intuition and critical thinking and is comfortable working under ambiguous requirements with minimal oversight. Combining these skills, these engineers face challenges across a wide variety of work centers at the company, and the team is frequently asked to tackle new, inter-departmental development projects. The ultimate goal of the Integration and Test team is to ensure that satellites achieve their mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the fabrication of parts, processes and assemblies within propulsion system manufacturing

  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration

  • Regularly challenge each process, part, and operation while working closely with design/development engineers to create the most manufacturable and reliable satellite hardware possible.

  • Interact with a multi-disciplinary group of engineers and technicians on a daily basis in support of production, test, automation, launch, and more

  • Maintain a sense of holistic ownership over the production line including process consistency, quality, tooling, capital equipment, ergonomics, layout, and safety

  • Enable day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow

  • Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline

  • 1+ years of hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing, and/or project management experience via internships, labs, clubs, extracurricular activities, or professional industry experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with integration and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and/or structural systems

  • Experience with the design, build, and operation of electrical and/or pressurized test equipment

  • Understanding of test methods/setups and data acquisition systems

  • Documentation and configuration management experience

  • Experience writing test plans, and procedures and providing go/no-go judgment and rationale

  • Experience in a production environment

  • Demonstrated engineering intuition, critical thinking, and comfort with ambiguity

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some travel to our launch sites may be required as needed, up to 10%

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Integration & Test Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year

Integration & Test Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
