Microsoft Corporation Land Development Analyst: Internship Opportunity in Redmond, Washington

The Cloud Infrastructure Acquisition (CIA) Land Development Organization is responsible for the delivery and pre-positioning of datacenter real estate required to build out Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure. The Land Development Organization supports the development and delivery of Microsoft’s datacenter portfolio from site selection through design, permitting, construction, and operation. The datacenter development portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large-scale, multi-year construction and lease projects.

As a Land Development Analyst Intern for the AMERS region you will support land development and permitting strategy development and execution; stakeholder engagement; utility connection/construction/development agreements; integrated project planning; and contract and budget management for the lifecycle delivery of datacenter development. This role will involve regular engagement with key Microsoft stakeholders, as well as strategic interaction with regulatory agencies and other external parties.

Responsibilities

  • Support the permitting and approvals process for a portfolio of projects to enable new datacenter development and construction throughout the region, under the guidance of experienced professionals.

  • Assist in conducting comprehensive assessments during due diligence, design, and construction to identify regulatory requirements and associated risks, with oversight from senior team members.

  • Coordinate with key internal counterparts, including land development, design, construction, operations, and environmental team leaders, to develop comprehensive and integrated permitting and project delivery strategies and schedules, with supervision.

  • Help communicate key risks, mitigations, and policies to internal Microsoft stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to support innovative solutions that resolve schedule delays, under the direction of senior staff.

  • Assist in developing engagement strategies and represent Microsoft in key meetings with applicable Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), external stakeholders, and the public to facilitate datacenter development, with oversight.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Real Estate or Related Field.

  • Must have at least one additional semester/term of school remaining following the completion of the internship.

The base pay range for this internship is USD $4,460 - $7,990 per month. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $5,970 - $8,960 per month.
