​​As a Mechanical Engineer at Microsoft, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, modify, and evaluate mechanical systems and equipment, including defining design approaches and parameters. Additionally, you will utilize predictive modeling techniques to inform design choices and select materials and components based on analysis of specifications and reliability. This opportunity will allow you to hone your skills and focus on technical specifications, functionality, materials, compatibility with other devices, compliance, and safety to enhance Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

  • You will interpret moderately complex details for testing and, under guidance, develop drawings for well-defined products or features. You’ll also use predictive modeling and document appropriate test requirements.

  • You will carry out testing on moderately complex products and develop external testing plans. You’ll identify complex design flaws using root-cause analysis and validate features by building prototypes.

  • You’ll coordinate a project schedule to deliver the hardware engineering aspects of a moderately complex feature or product and make product recommendations by reviewing partner products. You’ll also evaluate moderately complex details of materials and techniques used in production.

  • You will identify common project risks, communicate team progress, and create detailed reports for products and features. You’ll also document complex details about materials, components, and functionality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (or currently pursuing) in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field.

Mechanical Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
