Microsoft AI (MS AI) is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Manager to help build the next wave of capabilities of our personal AI, Copilot. We’re looking for someone who possesses technical prowess, a methodical approach to problem-solving, proficiency in data analytical technologies, and a mastery of templating to architect solutions that stand the test of time and who will bring an abundance of positive energy, empathy, and kindness to the team every day, in addition to being highly effective. The right candidate is to lead the team measuring world-class consumer experiences and products in a fast-paced environment. The Data Engineering team is responsible for building metrics, measurement, dashboards, and analytical capabilities which influences the work in fine-tuning and deploying the core experience of Copilot.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of end-to-end Metrics and Measurement of consumer facing Copilot platform. 

  • Work collaboratively with other Platform, infrastructure, application engineers as well as AI Researchers to provide metrics and measurement for all AI products and services. 

  • Build scalable, high-quality, well-tested, secure, Data measurement platform.  

  • Find a path to get things done despite roadblocks to get your work into the hands of users quickly and iteratively.  

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, design-driven, product development cycle.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience building teams and applications with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Python, C#, C++, Rust, Java 

  • OR equivalent experience. 

  • 4+ years' experience building scalable services on top of public cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP with extensive use of various datastores like RDBMS, key-value stores, etc. 

  • 4+ years' experience in engaging with executive leaders as well as internal stakeholders like data science engineers, product managers and data engineers building data products.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in building teams of engineers, analysts, data scientists to manage large scale Data warehouseand metrics & tooling infrastructure, including experience in managing stakeholderseffectively handling data driven decisions. 

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical and data related issues, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience. 

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.  

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Passion for clear ownership on metrics and measuring every product feature gets rolled out to improve the quality of the consumer facing products. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines. 

  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team.

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
