Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineering Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Azure Machine Learning (ML) team within the AI Platform empowers data scientists and developers to effortlessly build, train, deploy, manage, and consume machine learning models. We are seeking a Principal Engineer Manager to join our Models as a Service team. This team designs, builds, and operates the industry's largest-scale engineering system for Large Language Models and GenAI Services. In this role, you will work on innovative projects that are at the cutting edge of AI technology, collaborate with a dynamic team of experts in the field, and contribute to products that have a significant impact on a rapidly growing customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Work with PM team and Partners to understand the needs of various Scenarios

  • Own the product direction and technical road map. Present the same to leadership.

  • Lead an 8 person cross geography team, in addition to playing technical leader role for the area, to deliver on team’s commitments.

  • Establish engineering processes to ensure service quality, delivery of new capabilities, and continuously improving metrics.

  • Develop talent and grow your team into a high performing healthy organization.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of technical leadership experience of designing and delivering large projects

  • 3+ years experience leading teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with AI and Machine Learning

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
