Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineering Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Office Growth Ecosystems (OGX) team is an experienced and highly passionate group at Microsoft that builds and maintains end-to-end ownership of mainline experiences within Office across multiple platforms. OGX is responsible for a wide breadth of areas including best-in-class UX, AI powered experiences via Copilot, next-gen collaboration, business critical fundamentals, and driving user engagement. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager that can provide product and technical leadership to the world class team of engineers in the M365 Verticals Team focused on iOS and the Mac.

M365 Verticals leverages Microsoft services to create cloud-first and AI backed experiences to help users discover the most relevant content and activities in their work and personal life to enable collaboration with others across countries and time zones. Across iOS, Mac, and Windows we are passionate about creating fluid and delightful user experience that make people’s personal and professional lives better.

In this role you will be leading a team of engineers passionate about the Apple platform. As developers and users, they strive to say current with the latest Apple APIs and experiences leveraging SwiftUI and Swift while also bridging the gap between cutting edge UX and cross-platform C++ code.

Leading the team you will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of our company’s strategy as we focus on increasing mobile growth while also creating coherent experiences across Apple platforms. The team is also responsible for maintaining and incrementally improving existing critical experiences that are shared across our broad portfolio of Office apps on Mac and iOS, built on top of C++, Swift, Objective-C and Apple frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of engineers so they all learn, grow, and succeed.

  • Help envision, define and deliver feature roadmap to achieve organization objectives.

  • Providing hands-on technical leadership through code reviews, design\vision documents, and commits helping toempower your team to grow and deliver results technically.

  • Effectively collaborating across OGX, Office, and other product teams across Microsoft to ensure strategy and execution alignment.

  • Guides team to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with C++, Swift or Objective-C

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience improving products based on analyzing real-world usage patterns and data telemetry.

  • Experience writing native user experiences on Apple platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to handle significant ambiguity and rapid change, while driving for results

  • Ability to influence for impact and listen to customer feedback.

  • Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.

  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and collaborate across teams and organizations.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
