The Purview Data Governance team’s mission is to deliver a market leading solution for enterprise data management, discovery, understanding, and access. The customer personas served by Purview Data Governance include the enterprise data office, enterprise-wide data owners and data stewards, and enterprise-wide data consumers across all organizational functions. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineering Manager to join us in our mission of creating a cutting-edge cloud service and AI (Artificial Intelligence) based enterprise data governance solution and practices for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Drives a customer-first, live site-first, design-first, and agile team culture to develop, secure and operate cloud services at high scale, throughput, and resilience.

  • Always lead and model a one team and one product mindset.

  • Provide hands-on leadership and coaching for a growing team of full stack software engineers; create clarity, communicate teams' vision, strategy and progress to peers, partners and senior leaders; provide guidance, hands-on assistance, best practices and trainings, reenforce team culture with emphasis on customer focus and engineering agility, removing barriers and enabling the team to be productive.

  • Effectively lead and collaborate on team-wide and crew specific design and architectural reviews, planning and execution processes, creating robust engineering plans.

  • Make timely decisions to meet functional, security, reliability, quality and shipping goals.

  • Consistently model, coach and care for all team members to help them achieve the most in their careers.

  • Lead the continuous improvement of engineering and quality practices.

  • Work across business groups to ensure the long-term integrity of a product area.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years experience leading software engineering teams.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 8-10 years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python or Scala

  • Applied experience in the practice of federated data governance in a global enterprise.

  • Full stack engineering experience

  • Broad understanding of enterprise architectural considerations pertinent to SaaS solutions.

  • Applied experience in architecting and implementing solutions with complex integrations.

  • Experience in building and shipping production-grade, large-scale, fault-tolerant cloud services and distributed systems.

  • Experience in building AI/Copilot experiences in enterprise/commercial software.

  • Experience in navigating enterprise change management.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
