Our Electrical Engineering and Firmware team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer candidate to lead Memory architecture definition, development, and characterization on existing and future products. The candidate will possess the ability to collaborate closely with memory suppliers, System on Chip (SoC) design teams, SoC development partners, the electrical design team, firmware and software teams, design validation and test team, manufacturing team, and mechanical and thermal development team to ensure all memory performance and quality metrics are met to deliver world-class consumer electronics. The candidate will be well-versed in electrical engineering, particularly relating to memory design, architecture, test, application, and manufacturing processes. The candidate will have an understanding of circuit design, timing analysis, operation, power, performance, and binning issues associated with Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) chips and Solid State Drive (SSD) devices.

The candidate will demonstrate a solid understanding of core engineering principles, analytical process, disciplined methodology, superior problem-solving skills, and a passion for developing technologies and products with a broad scope of impact. Experience will include significant contributions designing memory devices in the development of world-class consumer electronic products or similar industries. Good technical leadership, communication skills, and a willingness to tackle big challenges. This candidate will own all aspects of the memory architecture and design that will be employed on existing Xbox console variants as well as future designs and shall ensure an good customer experience from product inception through end-of-life. The candidate will be supporting DRAM solutions including SSD, Graphics Double Data Rate 5 and 6, (GDDR5, GDDR6,) Low Power Double Data Rate (LPDDR) and future DRAM technologies. The candidate will be responsible for the architecture, design, and characterization of the memory subsystem on XBOX devices from early prototypes to high volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and deliver the memory and storage architecture for Xbox Products.

  • Work with suppliers to ensure optimized memory and storage solutions.

  • Investigate and drive next generation memory and storage technologies.

  • Deliver the motherboard implementation, including driving schematics and layout (including routing, signal, and power integrity).

  • Define and execute memory and storage electrical and functional test plans.

  • Define and execute DOE’s to characterize memory and storage subsystem across process, voltage and temperature.

  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate testing.

  • Analyze, document, and communicate test results.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of technical engineering experience,

  • OR abachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • OR a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • A demonstrated understanding of DRAM Memory architectures, devices, and interfaces, previous experience with System on Chip (SoC) design and implementation, and experience integrating memory components into larger electronic systems.

  • Understanding of core electrical engineering principles for circuit design and analysis.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • 5+ years of experience with SSD or Flash based storage design, test, debugging, and electrical implementation.

  • 5+ years of experience designing, debugging, and testing high-speed electrical interfaces.

  • A deep understanding of electrical schematic design and integration including a familiarity with schematic capture tools, PCB layout tools, and the ability to utilizebothto quickly iterate on schematic and PCB design.

  • A solid understanding of electrical lab equipment including oscilloscopes, DDMs, signal generators, thermal chambers, temperature sensing, network analyzers, test automation etc.

  • Familiarity with supplier negotiations on memory part specifications, capabilities, and roadmaps, and demonstrated abilities to clearly present complex design tradeoff matricies.

  • Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing design challenges.

Electrical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
