Microsoft Corporation Senior Security Operations Engineer in Redmond, Washington

We are looking for a Senior Security Operations Engineer to join our team!

Are you passionate about cybersecurity? Join Microsoft’s Edge and Platform Security Fundamentals (EPSF) team and help us deliver impactful security solutions to secure some of Microsoft’s largest and most critical services in Azure, Windows and Devices. 

As a senior security operations engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, implement, and streamline infrastructure security across cloud and hybrid environments. Your work will have an immediate impact to the business by eliminating risk and aligning with company objectives.

As a member of our team, you will work with leaders, engineers, and PMs across multiple organizations, guiding them to take meaningful action to protect their systems and services. You’ll collaborate closely with our offensive security teams to ensure new and existing threats are eliminated through proactive design and code-based solutions.

In this position you will be actively creating and implementing infrastructure as code, making data driven decisions and delivering security at scale to critical services within Microsoft. Supply chain security will be a focal point of this role and you will be delivering this through network and identity isolation programs.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), and operations incident response

  • o OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.

  • 3 + years of experience in large-scale computing, cyber security, and infrastructure design.

  • 3 + years of building and operating secure infrastructure in cloud/hybrid environments.

  • 3 + years experiencedesigning and troubleshooting enterprise class infrastructure, with a emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.

  • 3+ years experience in technical background specializing in infrastructureand identity security.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, and anomaly detection

o OR Master's Degree or Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.

  • CISSP, CISA, CISM, SANS, GCIA, GCIH, OSCP, and/or Security+ certification.

  • Ability to script/code with PowerShell, Python or other cloud capable language.

  • Familiar with ML and AI technologies, custom model development, and prompt engineering

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Azure, AWS, GCP, or any other large cloud provider security best practices.

  • Familiar one or more of the following: STRIDE, NIST, Microsoft Cloud Security Benchmark(MCSB), MITRE Att&ck, FedRamp frameworks.

  • Experience building secure cloud-scale infrastructure with code

  • Familiar with infrastructure as code languages/services ARM, Bicep, Terraform, CloudFormation

  • Familiar with threat hunting, penetration testing, SoC operations.

  • One of the following certifications CISSP, Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect.

  • Familiar with cloud networking technologies, routing protocols, and software defined networking.

  • Experience with SIEM tooling (Splunk, Azure Sentinel, or similar)

  • Solid coding, debugging, design, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with modern authentication technologies (AAD, Fido2, WebAuthN, OATH2, etc.)

Security Operations Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
