We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.​

​​Azure PostgreSQL is a rapidly growing team inside Azure Data and Microsoft and we're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is excited about building new features on managed database services.

What is expected from you?

As a Senior Software Engineer you will get an opportunity to build new features in autonomous database space on Azure PostgreSQL. You will be expected to have a strong understanding of software development principles and be able to apply them to create high-quality software along with experience working on Postgres database internals. You will work closely with other team members in Redmond, Atlanta and India who work on different parts of tech stack. You will have the opportunity to grow your skills and take on new challenges within the company.

• ​​Design, develop, and deliver innovative and impactful features on Azure Database for Flexible server - Postgres.  

• Work on coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.  

• Collaborate with other team members to ensure that our software meets the needs of our customers.  

• Continuously improve your skills and knowledge to stay up to date with the latest technologies and best practices.

Qualifications

Required /Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• OR equivalent experience

• Experience working on Postgres database internals.

• 8+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Collaborate with teammates in various roles to plan and execute on key deliverables.

• 8+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Experience with cloud technologies and distributed systems. 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
