Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The Driver Platform provides the OS infrastructure, development experience and tooling to enable driver developers and OEM/IHV/ISV partners to build, certify and ship device drivers to enable new hardware driven experiences. As part of the team, you will get to work with a varied group of people from Windows and the hardware industry to produce products and features that highlight the best of Windows and Microsoft technologies.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can bridge the gap between hardware and software, who can collaborate with different teams and companies throughout the whole development process, and who eagerly embraces new challenges to foster learning and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to define requirements.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience using unmanaged languages in production

Other Requirements:

Cloud Background check:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Problem solving, debugging (windbg), and troubleshooting skills.

  • Background in operating system concepts/fundamentals

  • Experience with data intelligence, including telemetry and statistical analysis.

  • Communication and collaboration skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Rust, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Rust, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
