The AKS on Azure Stack HCI is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join us in designing and developing state-of-the-art solutions that enable customers to leverage Cloud-powered features for their containerized workloads.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer you will have the incredible opportunity to work on business-critical initiatives that directly shape the future of Microsoft’s business.

You will be deeply technical, collaborative, and experienced with Kubernetes, with the agility to quickly adapt to new areas since your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of Azure and Edge business and all layers of the cloud and Edge technology stack.

In this role, you will leverage your Kubernetes expertise to lead the design and implementation of solutions that ensure reliability, security, and compliance for different Edge products.

This will involve collaborating with stakeholders across the company to define both long-term and short-term product strategies in conjunction with upstream and downstream Program Management and Engineering teams.

You will also play a key role in nurturing our engineering culture, promoting standardized solutions with a solid emphasis on quality.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud Native technologies including containers, Go, and Kubernetes

  • Ability to participate in a period, global 24x7 on-call rotation.

Other Requirements:

  • Cloud Background check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience operating a large-scale Kubernetes environment (10’s of clusters) which hosts multiple applications.

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes networking configurations and security best practices.

  • Experience with ability to reason about, modern software & systems architectures, including load-balancing, queueing, caching, distributed systems failure modes, and microservices.

  • Experience with computer science, including data structures and algorithms

  • Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting complex software systems.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
